bem oleared and material is on the apot and personnel ready to
re-great it. Immediate reseraction is necessary owing to difficulty
of maintaining supply under present conditions. In deference however
to publie opinion that gosomoter should not be re-erected on existing
site close to tenement houses Hong Kong and China Gas Co.ara prepared
to move the site but their distribution aystem restricts them to
the ɛams neighbourhood. Only suitable area available is Crom Land
at prosent partly occupied by the Sanitary Department incinerators
kennels and inspecters' quarters. Expense to the Company of preparing
this site and extending rains is estimated at Hong Kong dollars
105,000 . In the circumstances should be glad to have your approval
to sell area required by private treaty but without restricted user
commonly imposed in much cases. The Company's present property is
not so restricted. The proposed terms and conditions to which the
Company agree are :- term of 75 years renewable. Area of about
61, 310 square feet at 60 cents square foot = Hong Kong dollars
36,786. Government to retain use of existing buildings for five
years when compensation at estimated value will be paid by the
Company. Crom ront Hong Kong dollars 600 per annum for five years
then Hong Kong dollars 1,126 per anmin. It is proposed to reprovision
the Sanitary Department preaisos en at present unfinished Kennedy
Town reolaxation in pursuance of policy of removing slaughter houses
sherato. Chairman of the Gas Co.at present in the Colony is leaving
for England in the course of the next few days. Request early reply
